Quality Innovation Intern

Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy. The Quality Innovation Engineering Intern will support the development and implementation of quality strategies and assessments of hardware demonstration projects, collaborating with various engineering teams to ensure effective quality program implementation.

Responsibilities

Develop and document quality strategies rooted in engineering best practices to satisfy applicable quality requirements for safety-related systems and projects
Support assessments of the implementation of quality strategies across project lifetimes using in-field observation, interviews and objective evidence from documents and records
Participate in project meetings, reviews and walkthroughs to support identification of risks, gaps and improvement opportunities in work execution and documentation
Assist Kairos Power hardware technology development by capturing, analyzing and disseminating operating experience, as well as support corrective action and continuous improvement
Support continuous improvement efforts internal to the Quality Innovation team that improve automation of analysis and documentation work products
Assist with tracking and trending quality-related data (e.g., nonconformances, operating experience, assessment outcomes) and preparing summaries for team review
Other duties as assigned, which may include hands-on assignments with hardware fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and operation

Required

Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Civil, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent
Experience with data analysis/automation and ability to develop further experience in R, R Markdown, Python, git, LaTeX, Bash/Shell/Batch scripting, Docker, VS Code, GitHub, etc
Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills
Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to problem solve quickly and efficiently
Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
Analytical skills to identify trends, anomalies and potential causes from qualitative and quantitative data
Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
Ability to plan and execute tasks with minimal direction after training, including timely escalation of risks/issues
Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others

Preferred

Hands-on experience with hardware design, fabrication, assembly, or testing preferred
