Responsibilities
Anticipate demand and secure the right produce at the right time to maintain service levels
Manage stock levels efficiently, reduce waste, and ensure accuracy in our ERP system
Build truckloads for compatibility, monitor transportation costs, and streamline scheduling with growers
Review usage reports, manage backorders, and reconcile receiving to address inventory gaps or excess
Work closely with operations, sales, warehouses, and QA to resolve shipping, receiving, and inventory challenges
Support new item launches, minimize supply chain costs, and manage vendor relationships as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma required; a related college degree in General Business, Buying/Procurement, Food Science, or Supply Chain Management preferred—or equivalent experience
1–2 years as a Junior Buyer or Buyer in food manufacturing, grocery, retail, or warehouse buying environments
Produce experience and knowledge of seasonality are a strong advantage!
Basic understanding of purchasing principles, competitive procurement practices, value analysis, source selection, and negotiation techniques
Familiarity with business subjects like purchasing, economics, ethics, and accounting
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic environment
Proficient in automated systems and able to quickly learn procurement software
Professional, diplomatic, and calm under pressure
Strong logical thinking and sound judgment to balance risks, timeliness, cost, and other considerations when making decisions
