Summer Stewardship Assistant
Cape Elizabeth Land Trust is seeking a Summer Stewardship Assistant to support land conservation and coastal Maine ecology. The role involves field data collection, trail and property stewardship, and volunteer coordination over a summer period.
Responsibilities
Performing some properties’ annual monitoring walks and writing the appropriate reports
Trail improvement projects such as signage, filling muddy spots, and boardwalk construction
Invasive species management and removal
Coordinate volunteer work groups and stewardship events on a regular basis
Office projects including staff meetings, organizing paper records, and updating GIS data
Help with the annual CELT wet-paint auction fundraiser, Paint for Preservation
Other tasks based on skills, interests, and new topics that arise
Qualification
Required
Enthusiastic about the outdoors and conservation
Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Comfortable working outside for extended periods of time
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Able to work occasional evenings and weekends
Able to provide reliable transportation (business mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate)
Able to provide a functional mobile device for field communication and land stewardship apps
Preferred
Landscaping and forestry, knowledge of coastal Maine plants
Geographic Information Systems (GIS), e.g., ESRI Field Maps, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Pro
Environmental education
Photography, videography, and other content creation
While this position is geared towards undergraduate students and recent graduates, this is not a requirement for consideration
