The Bridge Design Engineer is responsible for the planning and design of various types of bridges and drainage conduits, as well as conducting hydraulic and scour analysis and assisting in providing consulting engineering services to a range of clients.

Responsibilities

Design Prestressed Box Beam Bridges on capped pile substructures

Design Single span concrete slab bridges on capped pile substructures

Design Continuous slab bridges on capped pile substructures

Conduct Concrete deck overlay projects

Perform Minor rehabilitation work involving concrete patching, deck joint rehabilitation, parapet safety regrading, or other structural repairs not requiring design computations

Plan and design bikeway/pedestrian bridges

Plan and design low flow stream crossings

Plan and design drainage conduits (culvert pipes and three-sided/four-sided box culverts)

Conduct bridge hydraulic and scour analysis

Perform structure type studies

Conduct FEMA floodplain analysis and permitting

Handle Army Corps of Engineers permitting

Coordinate utility

Review contractor material submittals

Required

Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

Must have an EIT certification and be in the process of obtaining or already possess a P.E. license

Candidates should have 0-5 year(s) experience in bridge design

Must possess traits of a very responsive person with a strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet deadlines

Candidates should possess a continuous learning mindset

Must have the ability to interact with the public, clients, and reviewing agencies in a courteous manner

Preferred

Knowledge and understanding of the Ohio Department of Transportation's Bridge Design Manual, Location and Design (L&D) Manual, Construction and Material Specifications, and Standard Construction Drawings is a benefit, but not required

Working proficiency of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
