Systems Administrator - Physical Security

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services is seeking a Systems Administrator to perform highly skilled technical work in systems analysis, design, and management. The role involves managing enterprise physical security systems, overseeing system design, and coordinating with vendors to address security needs.

Responsibilities

Receives, prioritizes and responds to staff, end user and department requests for troubleshooting, maintenance and resolution to requests for support concerning major and integrated systems of the assigned functional areas
Provides project management and leadership for major system installations, upgrades, and or modifications; may require management of multiple projects simultaneously to ensure adherence to critical deadlines and project goals
Provides advisement and consultation with management regarding the overall architectural vision of the assigned systems, problem anticipation and problem solving on an enterprise level
Functions as senior technician in ensuring proper integration of new and existing systems that may encompass multiple platforms and/or critical legacy systems; includes network and server administration where applicable
Designs system specifications, documenting all hardware and network architecture and configurations, including developing specifications for building infrastructure modifications
Identifies systems requirements according to end-user needs; configures appropriate solutions using current technologies, scripting protocols, and platforms where applicable; includes testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and applications support
Researches current trends and developments in the industry relevant within supported systems; identifies where new solutions or enhancements to current systems may improve operational or functional efficiency of assigned systems
Identifies when systems applications, servers, computer hardware, system components or other devices of the assigned systems are near exhausting expected life-cycles; recommends implementations of new technologies accordingly
Develops Requests for Proposals, Quotes, Information (RFP, RFQ, RFI) for technology projects and systems, detailing specifications, minimum standards, desired outcomes, and project timelines
Communicates with hardware/software/technology vendors; provides information concerning operational and/or systems problems, new products, or other issues as appropriate; acts in a consultative role regarding new policies
Works collaboratively with information services professionals in integrating other discipline components, standards and protocols as required, e.g., security administration, database administration, server administration, automated electronic systems, data communications and network infrastructure
Maintains an awareness of new products, technologies, trends, and advances in the profession; reads professional publications to increase knowledge of supported systems; attends user group meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Technology or related field required
Five years progressively knowledgeable experience in designing, developing and implementing information systems and infrastructure solutions, including technology based project management experience
Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds)
Ability to communicate orally

Preferred

Project Management Skills: Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage projects, including scheduling, product sourcing, and process optimization
Vendor Management: Experience leading teams and collaborating with vendors to ensure timely and efficient project delivery
Technical Troubleshooting: Strong skills in diagnosing and resolving issues with mechanical operations, electronics, and wired/wireless networks
Networking and System Configuration: Hands-on experience installing and certifying network infrastructure and configuring integrated security systems
Communication and Problem-Solving: Effective verbal and virtual communication skills, coupled with strong analytical and research abilities
Industry Tools and Platforms: Experience with systems such as Avigilon ACC/ACM; Software House C-Cure, Vicon Cameras, Blackcreek Physical Security Systems
Educational Background: Coursework in Electrical Engineering Technology and Business, providing technical and operational insight
Possession of IT Infrastructure Library Certification
