Communications Supervisor

The Texas Water Company is actively seeking a Communications Supervisor to join their dynamic team. This role involves implementing communication plans, serving as a point of contact for media inquiries, and supporting community engagement efforts.

Responsibilities

Assist in implementing communication plans tailored to Texas operations, ensuring clarity and relevance for local audiences (customers, regulators, elected officials, and business partners)
Serve as a point of contact for local media inquiries and coordinate responses with enterprise teams
Support community engagement activities, including education and advocacy efforts at local councils and public forums
Draft and distribute customer-facing materials (letters, FAQs, digital content) to explain regional initiatives and projects
Monitor customer feedback and sentiment in partnership with customer service; recommend improvements based on insights
Maintain local internal communication channels such as newsletters and assist leadership with quarterly meetings and engagement tools
Collaborate with HR and leadership to communicate organizational updates, benefits, and development opportunities
Prepare clear, accurate communications for rate cases, filings, and related regulatory initiatives
Assist in creating materials for new business development announcements
Support crisis communication protocols and assist in scenario planning for high-risk situations
Act as a communicator during emergencies, ensuring timely and empathetic messaging
Post and monitor content on social media and company websites to amplify messaging
Track engagement metrics and provide insights to optimize digital strategies
Track communication-related expenses and assist with invoice processing
Coordinate timelines and deliverables for communication projects

Required

Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for diverse audiences
Familiarity with media relations, crisis communications, and digital platforms
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
Proficiency in MS Office; experience with tools like MailChimp or Everbridge is a plus
Detail-oriented and proactive
Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset
Comfortable engaging with media and public audiences
Accessible during emergencies for rapid response communications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field required
3–5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or related roles

Preferred

Experience with internal and external communications and community engagement
