The City of Platteville is seeking a dynamic candidate for the role of City Manager, who will demonstrate strong leadership and supervisory skills. The City Manager will oversee a $34.7 million annual budget and direct an executive leadership team while managing various municipal projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities

Oversee the city's executive leadership team of department directors
Manage the city's annual budget including water and sewer utilities and Tax Increment Finance Districts
Lead the completion of the Aquatic Center and Fire Department Facility
Develop and implement a new Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan for the city
Expand the city’s trail system and manage residential development on city-owned land
Plan for the city’s bicentennial in 2035

Required

A bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, or related field
Five years of progressive experience in local government
Demonstrated working knowledge of municipal management, government budgeting, finance, personnel, labor relations, organizational development, project management, intergovernmental relations, and economic development, including Tax Increment Financing (TIF)
Strong leadership and supervisory skills
Strong decision making, problem solving, organizational, and listening skills
Ability to manage a diverse team of subordinates and department heads

Preferred

A master's degree
ICMA-CM credential
Experience in community development
Residency is encouraged and incentivized
