Caltrans District 3 is committed to making a positive impact on California's youth and the environment. The Conservationist I role involves supervising and mentoring young adults in resource conservation efforts while providing training and education.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Supervise, mentor and coach young adults (Corpsmembers) who participate in resource conservation work

Multi-task plan, teach and implement education classes and activities as well as volunteer opportunities

Serve a primary roll in training all incoming participant during initial entry training

Assist young adults in building a foundation to be the conservations of tomorrow and enter the career force with the skills to be valuable part of any team

Respond to emergencies: floods, fires, earthquakes

May be on extended rotations

Background Investigation – Undergo fingerprinting and successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Information check completed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) which may or may not also include a background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)

Medical Exam - A medical clearance exam is required for this classification

Commercial Driver License – Provide evidence that a Commercial Class C license with a Passenger Transport Vehicle special endorsement, or equivalent, has been obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)

Pre-employment Drug Test – Pass a urine drug test
