DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL IV
Caltrans District 3 is seeking a Deputy Attorney General IV to join their Facilities Enforcement Team within the Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse. The role involves investigating and prosecuting allegations of elder and dependent adult abuse in California's long-term care facilities, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities
Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of attorneys, special agents, nurses, auditors, and legal staff to investigate abuse and neglect referrals and complaints
Advising on the development of investigative plans, including reviewing warrants and interview strategy, and working with expert witnesses under a vertical prosecution model
Evaluating evidence and potential theories of culpability for a filing decision
Prosecuting criminal elder abuse cases in state court at all stages of litigation, including charging, motion work, settlement or jury trial, and sentencing
Assist with unannounced inspections of nursing home facilities as part of the Operation SAFE program
Participate in training and public/law enforcement outreach
Qualification
Required
Active member of the California State Bar
Demonstrate good judgement and professionalism in all interactions with members of the public, colleagues, opposing counsel, and the judiciary
Criminal jury trial experience and familiarity with felony prosecution

Preferred
Felony criminal jury trial experience
Experience working with medical records and/or experience working in the healthcare industry, elder law, or medical malpractice, or in a criminal elder abuse prosecution unit
