Responsibilities

Monitor compliance with federal and state payroll tax laws
Apply and register for new state SUI, State withholding tax accounts for new locations, FEINS, as needed
Maintain unemployment tax rates and communicate changes to third-party tax vendor
Partner with the Payroll team to ensure federal W4, state and local taxes are set up correctly for employees, particularly for employees who live and work in different states
Create and run reports in Workday to support research resolution and/or other requested information, as needed
Research on W-2 correction inquiries, provide resolution and coordinate W-2c preparation with third party vendor
Provide excellent customer service in researching and responding to payroll tax-related inquiries from employees, agencies, and other stakeholders
Analyze multi-state payroll tax data and perform calculations, and ensures that payroll information is reported to federal, state and local agencies as may be required
Facilitate timely resolutions of tax notices, in coordination with third-party tax vendor, to avoid penalties and interest
Contributes to integrating new payroll tax processes that aim to streamline workflow and improve operational efficiency
Perform other duties as assigned to support the payroll and tax functions

Required

Basic awareness of problem solving and decision-making skills
Payroll and Payroll Tax Fundamentals
Data Analysis & Reconciliation
Audit handling experience
Workday knowledge including year-end and W-2
Advanced Excel skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

Preferred

ADP Software knowledge preferred
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
