Responsibilities

Supervise and evaluate the activities of Deputy Public Guardians who are responsible for arranging the administration of estates and custodial care of gravely disabled or other incompetent persons appointed by the courts to the Public Guardian

Required

Incumbents must possess and maintain a valid certification as a Public Guardian as established by the California Association of Public Administrators, Public Guardians, and Public Conservators (CAPAPGPC). Certification must be obtained within four (4) years of hire per Section 2923 of the California Probate Code or the incumbent may be terminated

Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, which may include drug and/or TB testing

A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained

A Bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration, Behavioral/Social Science or a closely related field

Three (3) years of full-time experience equivalent to a Deputy Public Guardian with the County of San Bernardino. Equivalent experience includes the arrangement for custodial care and administration of estates of gravely disabled or other incompetent persons appointed to the Public Guardian by the courts

Four (4) years of full-time supervisory experience, or experience acting as a lead with demonstrated increasing responsibility, in a legal, fiscal, or law enforcement setting
