Deputy Public Guardian/ Deputy Public Guardian Trainee

NEOGOV is seeking Deputy Public Guardians and Deputy Public Guardian Trainees to work in the Department of Aging and Adult Services/Office of the Public Guardian. Responsibilities

Arrange for custodial care and administer estates of gravely disabled or other incompetent persons appointed to the Public Guardian by the courts
Serve as conservators of conservatees' property and financial assets
Coordinate legal or social services on behalf of conservatees
Investigate newly appointed conservatorship cases
Interview family members, physicians, psychiatric social workers, lawyers, and others to assess needs of conservatees
Consult with physicians, community social services or health care services to arrange for placement of conservatees
Personally place conservatees in care facilities
Transport conservatees to court hearings when required

Required

Possess a Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Behavioral or Social Science, or closely related field of study -AND- one (1) year of experience in a legal, fiscal, or law enforcement setting performing relatively complex duties which are non-routine in nature and require exercising independent decision making
Possess an Associate's degree, or equivalent completed college coursework, in Public or Business Administration, Behavioral or Social Science or closely related field of study -AND- four (4) years of experience in a legal, fiscal, or law enforcement setting performing relatively complex duties which are non-routine in nature and require exercising independent decision making
Possess a Bachelor's degree in Public/Business Administration, Behavioral/Social Science, or closely related field of study
Possess an Associate's degree, or equivalent completed college coursework, in Public/Business Administration, Behavioral/Social Science or closely related field of study -AND- three (3) years of experience in a legal, fiscal, or law enforcement setting performing relatively complex duties which are non-routine in nature and require exercising independent decision making
A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position
Incumbents must complete forty (40) units of CA State Association of Public Administrators, Public Guardian, and Public Conservators training within a four (4) year period
Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, credit check, and/or medical exam, which may include drug and/or TB testing
