Director of Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC)

Responsibilities

Direct the design, implementation, and evaluation of the IP/IPC program and annual goals
Ensure alignment with CDC/NHSN surveillance definitions, and complete required external reporting on time
Lead infection surveillance activities; analyze trends; prepare and present dashboards and reports
Develop and update IPC policies, procedures, and training to meet CMS, state, and accreditation requirements
Partner with clinical leadership, quality, employee health, and ancillary departments to improve compliance and outcomes
Support outbreak investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
Provide regular education on standard and transmission-based precautions, hand hygiene, device care, and environmental controls
Monitor IPC readiness through audits, rounding, and corrective action tracking
Collaborate On Antibiotic Stewardship Efforts and Integrate Relevant Data in Reports, As Applicable

Required

Master's degree in Nursing, Education, Epidemiology, Public Health, Clinical Microbiology, or a related health field
Three to five years of clinical experience in a health-related setting
Two years of leadership experience in Infection Prevention or epidemiology
Current national Certification in Infection Control (CIC)
Expertise with CDC/NHSN surveillance definitions and data submission
Strong knowledge of CMS, state/local reporting, and accreditation standards for IPC
Proficiency in infection surveillance, data analysis, trend reporting, and action planning
Policy and procedure development for standard and transmission-based precautions
Outbreak investigation, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
Education program design and delivery for multidisciplinary teams
Clear, concise communication and professional presentation skills
Collaborative leadership with the ability to influence across clinical and non-clinical teams
High attention to detail, accountability, and follow-through on regulatory tasks
Structured problem solving, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement mindset
