Barr Engineering Co. is seeking an electrical technician/designer to join their Hibbing or Duluth, Minnesota team. In this hybrid role, you will support the engineering group on the detailed electrical design of various industrial systems, collaborating with engineers and other designers while conducting field visits to client sites.

Responsibilities

Use AutoCAD electrical and other CADD software to create detailed electrical drawings for power distribution systems, controls, and lighting products and systems

Possess a strong understanding and design capabilities of electrical distribution systems 600V and lower

Effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to align technical work with project objectives while fostering strong, productive working relationships

Qualification

AutoCADElectrical distribution designMicrosoft OfficePower system modelingInterpersonal skills

Required

two-year technical certificate or equivalent experience/coursework directly related to electrical design

5+ years of relevant experience related to the job responsibilities described above

proficiency with current versions of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software

possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future

Preferred

Experience with project management and client management

Experience with power system modeling software such as SKM

Familiarity with construction management

Design experience with mining projects
