Engineer I-VI, Transmission Line Design
Georgia Transmission is seeking engineers for transmission line design roles. The positions range from entry-level to senior-level, focusing on the design, evaluation, and development of transmission line projects under varying levels of supervision and responsibility.

Responsibilities
Performs transmission line design under the guidance of senior engineer or designer
Assists in the creation of drawings, specifications, and contract documents to be used for transmission line design under the technical guidance of senior engineer or designer
Assists senior engineers in research, engineering studies, and the evaluation of materials
Creates drawings, specifications, and contract documents to be used for transmission line design under the technical guidance of senior engineer
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard design techniques, procedures, and criteria required for design, making adaptations and modifications under the supervision of a senior engineer
Creates drawings, specifications, and contract documents to be used for transmission lines
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard design techniques, procedures, and criteria required for design, identifying possible adaptations and modifications
May represent Design Services as an internal part of a corporate team on assignments with clear and specific objectives
Assists senior engineers in the training of new design associates
Develops new design specifications for approval by senior engineer
Work is performed independently under the technical guidance of a senior engineer
Independently performs physical design of transmission lines (structural design experience preferred)
Conducts research, engineering studies, evaluation and approval of materials, and design standards development
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard and unique design techniques, procedures, and criteria required for design development, exercising judgment in making adaptations and modifications for highly complex design projects
Represents Transmission Line Design as an internal part of a corporate team on assignments with clear and specific objectives
Leads the development and modification of design standards
Responsible for coordinating the training of new design associates
Responsible for conducting design review of complex design projects
Senior engineering lead for technical consultation and support within the Transmission Line Design department, other functional areas, and Electric Membership Cooperatives as required
Represents the Corporation in a court of law providing legal testimony on complex projects and associated engineering standards and practices
Primary researcher conducting engineering studies and evaluating materials, taking action on findings
Assists in the preparation of goals and group budget requirements
Initiates and leads process improvement initiatives

BS in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Zero to three years design or maintenance experience in the electric utility industry
Three (3) years of experience for Engineer II
Six (6) years of experience for Engineer IV
Eight (8) years of experience for Engineer V
Ten (10) years of experience for Engineer VI
Equivalent Experience: Four (4) years for Engineer IV, Six (6) years for Engineer V, Eight (8) years for Engineer VI with PE registration
Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) Registration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
PLS-CADD
Microsoft Suite
AutoCAD
Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening
Preferred
Structural design experience
BS in Civil Engineering preferred
Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) Registration preferred
