Responsibilities
Supports the Practice Lead Principal to achieve financial objectives
Supports day-to-day operation of EES and Company
Manages projects leveraging Company staff and subcontractors, with the organization and coordination necessary for the successful implementation, execution, and completion of Company projects
Responsible for developing business from new and existing clients and from participation in industry and other networking events that advance the Company brand
Develops customized proposals and sells Company services
Serves as primary point-of-contact (Client Manager) to connect clients with all Company services
Creates and sustains positive client relationships and customer care to ensure consistently high level of satisfaction with work product, working relationship, and contracted budget
May be responsible for supervising staff or direct reports, including monitoring individual performance metrics and conducting performance evaluations
May be responsible for serving as subject matter expert or industry expert within Company
Staff, as assigned by the Practice Lead Principal, may report to the Associate Principal Consultant
Recommend the hiring, termination, promotion, or change of status of staff to the Practice Lead Principal
Allocate and commit company funds, in accordance with company policy as described in the Company Employee Handbook, for consultants, subcontractors, laboratories and suppliers as specified in the awarded project(s). All such expenditures must be within the scope and budget of the project
Authorize payment to subcontractors, upon verification of the work being completed within the scope and budget of the project and of the quality expected by Company and our client(s)
Generate and approve change orders sent to clients in a timely manner
Manage and assign projects to staff as appropriate. Develop schedules and consult with staff regarding the requirements of the project and hold project completion meetings to discuss project successes and failures
Prepare and submit proposals for peer review and review proposals prepared by staff prior to issuing to client
Prepare and submit project deliverables (i.e., proposals, work plans, technical reports, and other correspondence) for peer review and review project deliverables prepared by staff prior to issuing to client
Award spot bonuses to staff based on performance and limited by the EES annual budget
Authorize staff professional development, training, or other overhead time, based on needs and in alignment with the EES annual budget
Resolve client or staff disputes or escalate to Practice Lead Principal
Participate in the development and execution of the EES Strategy with the Practice Lead Principal
Review and act upon weekly financial reports provide by the CFO
Ensure compliance with Company Employee Handbook and Standard of Care and applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and ordinances
Strong commitment to safety, including following Company health and safety protocols

Demonstrate comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of EES responsibilities, regulations, procedures, and business practices, including general broad knowledge of EES best management practices and regulations
Conduct and/or coordinate field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater, soil vapor, indoor air, and surface water sampling; aquifer testing; drilling oversight and soil logging; soil boring and monitoring well installation; well development, purging, and sampling; and construction oversight
Conduct and/or coordinate vapor intrusion and mitigation assessments
Conduct and/or coordinate remedial design, planning, and implementation
Conduct and/or coordinate construction oversight, environmental remediation projects, and operations and maintenance of environmental remediation systems
Perform data interpretation and preparation of site investigation work plans, tables, figures, and technical reports
Identify resources and develop approaches to solve Client and complex problems by collecting information from several sources, analyzing the data, and implementing or recommending an appropriate solution
Provide senior review of project deliverables
Ensure peer review is performed on project deliverables prior to submittal to client and conduct follow-up with client on project deliverables
Develop and implement technical programs, policies, and documents
Maintain consistent communications with sub-consultants/field representatives and client(s) to anticipate and resolve any issues that may impact the successful and timely completion of the project. Coordinate project related tasks with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, as warranted
Manage all aspects of environmental projects per the defined scope of work and contract budget, e.g., project strategy development and implementation, site assessment, remediation implementation, and environmental compliance
Demonstrate big picture conceptual analysis and creative thinking
Manage client relationships and promote positive communications with federal, state, and local regulatory personnel. Demonstrate ability to provide strategies for regulatory negotiations
Review contracts, scope of work and agreements associated with the project to determine deliverables, schedules, terms, and conditions. Ensure that these are met in the execution of the project(s). Demonstrate ability to manage project schedules for multiple projects and direct staff. Assign and schedule project personnel, supplies, and equipment
Demonstrate thorough understanding of the needs and goals of the client and proactively initiate actions to help address needs and obtain goals, as appropriate
Responsible for project financial performance for multiple large to complex projects. Review and approve pre-bills generated by Accounting and support collection efforts. Approve project time and expenses (e.g., vendor invoices, Company equipment rental forms). Prepare change orders prior to exceeding contract budget when conditions change. Monitor WIP and accounts receivable
Perform project management and client management for several large and complex clients simultaneously
Demonstrate effective public speaking skills for client presentations, sales meetings, and delivery of technical information
Ensure quality of service and deliverables by developing Standard Operating Procedures for EES in accordance with industry best practices
Generate sales leads, set, and run sales meetings, uncover opportunities, write proposals, and secure contract work for Company. Sell a mix of new business and existing business to contribute to the EES sales goal
Serve as the Client Manager to key clients and work to expand these accounts. Anticipate client’s long-term environmental needs and grow work from existing clients
Creatively grow Company and leverage business opportunities for EES and other Company practices by promoting Company services to new and existing clients
Support other Company practices, when possible, to foster cross-practices teamwork
Demonstrate business development success
Promote Company services in the marketplace through public speaking engagements, conference attendance, and participation in industry associations, as approved by the Principal
Track and manage staff utilization on a weekly basis to meet budget expectations. Seek to keep staff utilized and hold staff accountable for performance
Demonstrate leadership ability, including ability to motivate, develop and directly and indirectly manage other people effectively
Delegate authority and responsibility to staff to meet client and Company objectives
Evaluate and review the performance of direct report(s). Participate in identifying goals and professional development path as a supervisor and a mentor. Meet with direct report(s) at least every other week to coordinate projects, anticipate needs, and forward company communications. Prepare performance evaluation forms for direct report(s) annually
Approve staff timesheets, expense requests, and leave requests
Participate in staff development and mentoring program, including E-learning and other training. Mentor staff for professional growth, qualify performance, work safety, and productivity
Identify new hires, participate in interview process, and assist in hiring decisions
Provide Expert Witness and Litigation Support Services, as approved by the Principal
Perform other duties as assigned by the Practice Lead Principal
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, or related discipline
Minimum of 12 years of relevant environmental consulting experience (i.e., investigation/remediation projects under a variety of federal, state, and local regulatory oversight programs)
In-depth management experience interviewing, hiring, leading, mentoring, and developing staff
In-depth general or specialized technical experience in consulting or industry, simultaneously managing large and complex projects with varied budgets and resources
In-depth business development experience including networking, lead generation, project scoping, proposal preparation, and proposal presentations
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification. May be required to wear a respirator, which requires passing necessary medical physical for wearing respiratory protection
Valid driver's license and a good driving record. May be required to travel to offsite locations
Professional registration as a P.G. or P.E
