Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of the month-end close as it pertains to core financial statement areas including: cash, fixed assets, leasing, AP and accrued expenses, contingencies, payroll and stock-based compensation, capitalized software, debt and equity
Drive improvements in the month-end close process while ensuring accuracy and timeliness, including formalization of balance sheet reconciliations, enhanced level of documentation and review, and close management tooling
Partner closely with various operational functions, ensuring that business needs are met while ensuring efficiency and accuracy of accounting in accordance with US GAAP
Understand, develop and enforce accounting policies and conclusions in accordance with GAAP guidance, educating both team members and other stakeholders on accounting considerations and outcomes
Act as a key strategic partner in the selection, design and implementation of the company’s future ERP system and broader financial systems roadmap with Controller and other stakeholders
Work closely with Strategic Finance and other teams to provide key financial information and metrics, and leverage your experience and knowledge to help optimize current COA and reporting structures
Ensure strong internal controls and make recommendations to improve financial operations to drive best practices. Train staff on internal controls/SOX readiness, taking a hands-on approach to design new or enhance existing controls
Partner closely with the treasury team and technology partners to drive a robust and scalable cash reconciliation and reporting process
Oversee the Accounts Payable function, supervising day-to-day operations to ensure timely, accurate and compliant invoice processing, while also driving best practices and process automation leveraging technology
Act as a key team leader to foster growth and innovation mindset and continuously work to build, lead and mentor a strong team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Anticipate changes required in order to support the business with efficient and scalable processes

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Active CPA license in good standing
10+ years of relevant accounting experience in a similar accounting operations leadership/management position, preferably in a public company. Prior Big 4 experience is highly preferred
Must have strong understanding and application of US GAAP, with specialization in corporate accounting areas including contingencies (ASC 450), leasing (ASC 842), debt (ASC 470) share-based compensation (ASC 718), capitalized software (ASC 350-40)
Systems - experience with ERP implementation, including design and implementation of record-to-report and procure-to-pay modules
Strong understanding of AP and T&E systems, including prior implementation experience, is highly preferred (Ramp, Bill.com, or similar)
Internal Controls - strong knowledge and experience in designing, implementing and operating internal controls within FSCP and PTP process; prior SOX experience strongly preferred
Must be comfortable and have experience functioning in a fast-paced, high growth environment with ambiguity and changing priorities. Must be able to be nimble and pivot quickly/easily
Proven track record of effective communication at all levels of the organization, with a high level of self-awareness and humility, and excellent collaboration skills
Must be a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to work independently and also collaborate with cross-functional teams; comfortable rolling up sleeves and directly executing work as a preparer as needed
Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to proactively identify and prevent potential problems, and collaborate with others to resolve effectively
Ability to work well under pressure and appropriately prioritize responsibilities. Demonstrate strong leadership/mentorship across the Accounting team

Preferred

Prior experience in fintech, financial services, or a regulated industry is preferred, particularly within a high-growth environment
Prior experience directly managing AP function is preferred; robust knowledge of AP processes and best practices is essential
