Responsibilities
Work as part of a multi-discipline project team to develop conceptual designs, cost estimates, and final designs for capital projects
Assist process engineers in developing instrumentation and control system designs for inclusion in Process Design Packages
Develop cost estimates for AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure)
Participate in HAZOP and safety system reviews
Assist project leader in developing and maintaining project schedules
Prepare work scopes for equipment vendors, engineering firms, and installation contractors; review bids and evaluate proposals
Develop control system programming configurations and operator graphics or oversee contractors performing this work
Supervise instrumentation and electrical installation contractors and/or plant maintenance personnel
Participate in checkout and start-up of new equipment and controls
Serve as project leader for automation-only capital projects, including developing AFEs, tracking costs and schedules, and responding to Engineering Requests
Respond to operations and maintenance requests to analyze control system data, troubleshoot anomalies, and adjust process control tuning
Document system adjustments and generate MOCs (Management of Change) for process control changes
Direct system administration and maintenance activities for the process control system
Stay current on control system capabilities and enhancements
Attend safety training as required
Qualification
Required
4-year degree or equivalent experience in instrumentation, control systems programming, and DCS/PLC systems
5-10 years of petrochemical process control engineering experience
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong understanding of process control principles
Knowledge of industry standards and practices
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and DeltaV programming software
Ability to quickly comprehend technical requirements and resolve issues
Strong communication skills for interaction with operations, maintenance, safety, inspection, finance, and management teams
Ability to present information effectively in meetings
Preferred
B.S. in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering
