Tech Business Analyst Staff
UNICON International Inc. is seeking an experienced ServiceNow Discovery & CMDB Analyst to enhance the accuracy of their Configuration Management Database and ensure effective Discovery operations. This hands-on operational role involves collaborating with various teams to maintain Discovery health, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing initiatives related to ServiceNow and CSDM.

Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain the daily health of ServiceNow Discovery
Troubleshoot Discovery issues including unreachable devices, credential failures, duplicate CIs, misclassifications, and pattern failures
Manage and validate MID Server functionality, credentials, and network access requirements
Execute Discovery expansions into new network segments, cloud environments (AWS/Azure), and new technology stacks
Perform minor updates to patterns and probes when needed (light scripting allowed; development team handles full builds)
Review and cleanse CI records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment to CSDM
Identify data gaps, duplicate records, and attribute inconsistencies; partner with owners to remediate
Support integration points that feed CI data into the CMDB
Ensure Discovery-produced data aligns with service mapping and ITIL processes
Collaborate with the ITIL Process team to support Incident, Change, Problem, Asset, and Configuration workflows
Assist in defining and documenting CMDB and Discovery operational procedures
Support governance activities related to CSDM, CI class owners, and data consumers
Participate in roadmap work related to CSDM, CSM, and platform expansion
Work with network, server, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to open access, test connectivity, and ensure Discovery coverage
Interface with the ServiceNow development team (L2/L3) for enhancements or technical fixes beyond pattern adjustments
Act as a subject matter expert for Discovery-related issues in projects and platform initiatives
Qualification
Required
Hands-on experience operating ServiceNow Discovery in a mid- to large-scale enterprise (must-have)
Strong understanding of Discovery components: MID servers, probes, patterns, credentials, ECC queue, schedules
Experience improving CMDB data quality and managing CI lifecycle
Solid understanding of CSDM and core CMDB class structure
Familiarity with IP networks, firewalls, subnets, routing, ports/protocols
Ability to work across infrastructure teams to resolve connectivity or access issues
Basic ability to modify patterns/scripts when required (minimal; not a developer role)
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred
ServiceNow Discovery certification(s)
Experience with AWS/Azure cloud discovery
ITIL Foundation certification
Experience in an enterprise IT operations or systems engineering environment
Exposure to CSM, CSDM, or other ServiceNow roadmaps
