Responsibilities
Retrieves medical record documentation from all areas and prepares documentation for scanning and archiving by organizing and disseminating documents that do not belong in the chart
Scans all medical records, verifies that the acceptable image quality is produced and ensures all documents are assigned the correct form of ID and filed into the correct account
Analyzes the entire medical record for completion, accuracy, and compliance with Joint Commission, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and other regulatory standards
Identifies, tracks, and analyzes trends and issues with medical record documentation and presents to appropriate parties
Performs Quality Control reviews on scanned documents to ensure all documents were scanned into the record
Tracks destroyed records and logs appropriately in order to remain in compliance with retention and destruction regulations
Performs all duties as assigned
Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area
Qualification
Required
Associates degree preferred. Degree/Major preferred: health information management informatics, or related healthcare technology field
1 year to < 2 years of work experience
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or other AHIMA credentials are preferred
