Responsibilities

Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, office/medical/retail leases, commercial financing instruments (including CMBS loans), construction contracts, and agreements with brokers, architects, vendors, and other third parties
Skilled in conducting legal due diligence for acquisitions. Ability to identify and resolve title issues and ensure clear ownership
Experience coordinating litigation matters with outside counsel and familiarity with 1031 Exchanges, evictions, easements, eminent domain, and permitting processes
Ability to research and interpret and apply local, state, and federal real estate laws
Ability to identify legal risks in operational matters, manage complex insurance claims, and to ensure transactions comply with applicable laws and regulations
Effective and persuasive in advocating for the company’s interests in deals and resolving conflicts
Clear communication skills in working with principals, property managers, brokers, and other third parties

Required

In-house transactional real estate attorney with significant commercial leasing, purchase and sale, finance, construction and development, and general contracts experience
Ability to provide legal guidance in consideration of company's business objectives
Proficiency in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, office/medical/retail leases, commercial financing instruments (including CMBS loans), construction contracts, and agreements with brokers, architects, vendors, and other third parties
Skilled in conducting legal due diligence for acquisitions
Ability to identify and resolve title issues and ensure clear ownership

Preferred

Minimum of 10 years of experience in real estate law in California
Prior work as in-house real estate investment firm and familiarity with estate planning matters is a plus
