Responsibilities

Lead traffic engineering and transportation planning projects focused on intersections, freeways, and arterial corridors
Conduct traffic operations and safety studies using tools like Synchro, VISSIM, and HCM/HSM methodologies
Develop traffic control devices, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking design, plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic designs incorporating traffic engineering requirements into roadway plans
Preparing plans using design software such as CADD, OpenRoads Designer, and MicroStation
Prepare and present high-quality technical reports to clients in both virtual and in-person settings
Apply a multimodal lens to every project—accounting for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and drivers across diverse environments

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field
EIT certification
Experience in traffic engineering and analysis, preferably 4-6 years' experience
Hands-on experience with Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, Sidra, or similar tools
Proven ability to lead on-call tasks and collaborate with VDOT and other clients
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of traffic engineering, transportation planning, and operations analysis
Proficiency in traffic modeling and simulation tools
Strong communication skills for client engagement and project presentations
Excellent writing skills
Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team

Preferred

Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
PTOE certification
