Licensed Facility Engineer

Douglas County, Nebraska is seeking a Licensed Facility Engineer to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot building systems in accordance with safety and compliance regulations. The incumbent will work under the direction of the Chief Engineer, ensuring efficient service and effective relationships with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Install, inspect, adjust, maintain, troubleshoot, and perform repairs to building mechanical systems and components (e.g. HVAC, boilers, water heaters, pumps, generators, compressors, ventilation, fluid lines/systems, electrical systems, component parts)
Provide prompt, efficient, and responsive service
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the public
Comply with Civil Service Rules, collective bargaining agreements, County policies, department policies and laws to create a cooperative, safe, respectful and quality work environment
Identify, diagnose, correct or recommend action to supervisor
Operate electrical test equipment and analyze devices, determining potential system or equipment failures
Adhere to safety measures
Determine necessary equipment and materials, and requisition parts and supplies
Interpret drawings and blueprints for structural mechanical, electrical, and general facilities operating systems
Perform electrical maintenance (e.g. disconnecting, replacing, rerouting electrical systems)
Perform minor braising and welding repairs
Prioritize work requests and orders according to standard operating methods
Coordinate and oversee contractors
Complete work orders
Provide technical guidance and recommendations
Maintain job knowledge and skills (e.g. research, meetings, webinars, seminars, conferences, continuing education)
Monitor equipment technology and trends
Safely operate a motor vehicle when required to travel on County business
Report to work with regular, consistent attendance
Perform other duties as assigned and directed

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
Two (2) years of operating, maintaining, or repairing commercial HVAC systems experience required
Third (3rd) Grade Engineer License required
Valid driver's license and own transportation upon hire and maintained throughout employment required
Completion of pre-employment criminal record check, conditional offer drug screen and physical assessment required
Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be substituted for requirements on a year-for-year basis
