Responsibilities
Aid clients with daily activities, including hygiene, eating, and exercise
Monitor patients’ physical and emotional well-being, reporting changes to the clinical team
Administer prescribed medications as directed by licensed professionals (if certified to do so)
Facilitate individual or group therapeutic activities to encourage socialization and skill building
Provide a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment for clients
Implement treatment plans under the direction of clinical staff
Observe and document patients’ behaviors, mood changes, and responses to treatment
Record vital signs, food intake, and other relevant health metrics
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure continuity of care
Intervene in situations involving patient agitation, aggression, or distress
Use de-escalation techniques to manage behavioral crisis
Ensure patient and staff safety by adhering to facility protocols and guidelines
Maintain correct and confidential patient records
Aid with scheduling appointments or coordinating transportation for patients
Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to improve care practices
Qualification
Required
Education – High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience -- Minimum of two years' experience working and/or volunteering within healthcare, social work, or healthcare settings
Training in crisis intervention or behavioral management is highly desirable
Preferred
Post-secondary certification in Health mental health, psychology, or related fields (preferred)
Effective communication and people skills
Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care
Ability to manage stressful situations and remain calm under pressure
Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatments
