Attorney/Lawyer
Robert Half is seeking an experienced Employment & Labor Law Attorney to represent a leading college and provide legal counsel across a wide range of matters, with a primary focus on employment and labor relations law. This role will partner closely with Human Resources and academic leadership to ensure compliance and effective labor relations management.

Responsibilities
Advise on labor law matters, including grievances, information requests, bargaining agreement inquiries, and union negotiations
Collaborate with HR and the Provost’s Office on union-related issues for part-time faculty and staff
Provide guidance on employee classification, compensation, and pay-related matters
Counsel on real estate and facilities-related legal issues
Manage internal investigations and represent the college in administrative hearings (e.g., IDHR, EEOC)
Advise on employee discipline, discharge, leave, and accommodation issues
Oversee employment-related litigation handled by outside counsel
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements
Provide legal advice on intellectual property, student affairs, privacy, and other higher education matters
Conduct legal research on statutes, regulations, and case law
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Licensed and in good standing with the Illinois Bar
Minimum 5-7 years of legal practice, including at least 3 years in employment or labor law
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
Excellent research, writing, and client counseling abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively
High ethical standards, sound judgment, and integrity
Strong communication skills (written and oral)
Willingness to learn new areas of law and collaborate across teams
Preferred
Prior experience in higher education law strongly preferred
