Mechanical Engineering Specialist

Eaton is a leading company in electrical systems and power management, currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Specialist. This role involves the design and development of intelligent circuit protection and power management products, contributing to the mechanical design from project initiation through to manufacturing launch.

Responsibilities

Participate in new product development/introduction, innovation, idea creation and implementation
Serve as the mechanical design owner, make engineering decisions based on product performance test results, inspection reports, tooling assessments, DFMA considerations, product cost metrics and team input
Perform mechanical engineering, CAD solid modeling, design simulation, product specifications, BOM and ECO creation, systems development, product testing/results analysis and design validation
Create and coordinate product performance test plans with internal and external labs
Participate in project management and engaging with multi-disciplined teams to achieve goals using ProLaunch and other project management tools
Participate in Voice of the Customer (VOC) product, market requirements research and competitive benchmarking
Organize and coordinate work with team peers, extended internal team members and external developers
Leverage Eaton business standard processes for product development assignments (i.e. design standards, ECO processes, product safety assessment, FMEA, BOM structure, manufactured product cost estimations, project timeline and milestone planning)
Maintain and upgrades existing products, participate in technical customer service support
Provide assistance with 3rd party certifications and regulatory compliance initiatives
Ensure timely completion and accurate results delivered to project commitment dates

Required

Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electromechanical engineering from an accredited institution
Seven (7) years of experience in product development of electromechanical products/systems
Three (3) years of experience with CREO 3D solid modeling and the ability to develop 2D drawings and assembly documentation including design intent
Three (3) years of hands-on experience with any finite element analysis software

Preferred

Previous experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting engineering systems
Experience with SolidWorks solid modeling
Experience working in a global business environment with remote teams to deliver the best results while leveraging very diverse experiences within the team
Voice of the Customer (VOC) experience and Design Thinking experience with output applied to successful product developments
