Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for general benefits questions (medical, dental, vision, 401k, leave programs, etc.)

Partner with benefits brokers to resolve employee inquiries, eligibility issues, or escalations

Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS/benefit platforms

Assist with annual open enrollment, including communications, data audits, and vendor coordination

Maintain accurate and compliant benefits records

Support employee onboarding, including preparing offer packets, collecting documentation, initiating background checks, and setting up new hires in HRIS

Coordinate employee offboarding tasks such as system terminations, final pay inputs, COBRA notices (working with vendor), and exit documentation

Respond to routine employee questions regarding policies, PTO, pay cycles, and HR processes

Maintain personnel files and ensure data accuracy across systems

Assist payroll team with new hire setups, terminations, benefit deductions, and basic payroll changes

Monitor and update payroll tax account information across state and local jurisdictions as needed

Maintain accounts and respond to notices in unemployment portals and state tax websites

Support the completion of employment verifications and compliance documentation

Required

3-5 years of experience in HR, benefits administration, or payroll support

Familiarity with HRIS and benefits platforms; ability to learn new systems quickly

Preferred

Experience with multi-state payroll tax or unemployment portals
