Financial Controller
Horizon Building Group is a full service commercial construction firm seeking a Financial Controller to lead and oversee all company accounting functions. The role involves managing vendor invoices, client payments, payroll, and producing monthly financial statements while ensuring compliance and suggesting process improvements.
Responsibilities
Receive and distribute vendor invoices for approval
Record invoices in accounting software
Deposit and record client payments
Issue vendor payments (checks & ACH)
Distribute and collect lien waivers
Prepare monthly applications for payment (AIA G702/G703/sworn statements)
Update work-in-progress (WIP) report monthly
Book credit card charges and payments in accounting software
Oversee payroll & coordinate with payroll service
Produce monthly financial statements
Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Assist with yearly budget planning
Provide monthly cashflow projections
Track AR aging
Develop accounting standard operating procedure (SOP)
Suggest software and process improvements
Obtain and track vendor compliances (W9s, Certificates of Insurance, Safety Programs, etc.)
Manage insurance audit process
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting (or similar)
Five years' experience in construction accounting (preferably for GC/CM)
Proficiency with common industry software
Strong verbal & written communication
Acute attention to detail
Self- motivated
