Sr Inspector I, Sweeny Refinery

Responsibilities
Lead the inspection and assessment of fixed plant equipment and piping to ensure operational and safety standards are met
Conduct audits, collect and analyze inspection data, and provide actionable recommendations to operations, maintenance, and turnaround teams
Specify and oversee non-destructive examination (NDE) methods, review engineering packages, and support turnaround inspections
Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintain accurate equipment records, and communicate findings to technical and management teams
Approve repairs, support quality assurance/quality control activities, and help drive timely, effective maintenance decisions
Use digital tools to analyze trends, optimize inspection processes, and continuously improve equipment reliability
Uphold regulatory and compliance standards by investigating incidents and advising on complex compliance issues
Partner with NDE crews, ensure all work aligns with industry codes and company policies, and escalate issues as needed
Collaborate across teams to foster a culture of safety, integrity, and operational excellence
Leverage your technical expertise to support process improvements and share best practices
Communicate clearly and professionally, helping build trust and drive results across the refinery
Qualification
Required
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
Possess a valid driver's license
Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following: Travel up to 5%
Operate company vehicle on site premises and/or public roads up to 15%
Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional duties
Transport articles up to 50 pounds
Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
1 or more years of direct experience as an inspector in the Energy industry
Valid API 510 and/or API 570 certification(s)
Intermediate proficiency working in Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook), SAP, and PCMS
Preferred
Associate's Degree or trade certification
5 or more years of direct experience as an inspector in the Energy industry
Working knowledge of: Standard non-destructive examination (NDE) methods
Metallurgy and welding
Visual welding inspection
Interpreting detailed fabrication drawings, piping isometrics, and P&IDs
Damage mechanisms that affect refinery equipment, including fundamentals of corrosion and basic forms of corrosion
Risk-based inspection methodologies and how to utilize methodologies
API 653 certification
AWS SWI certification
