The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is responsible for promoting agriculture and protecting consumers in North Carolina. They are seeking a Pesticide Inspector I to enforce pesticide laws and regulations, conduct inspections, and interact with various stakeholders to ensure public health and safety.

Responsibilities

Conducting inspections at pesticide dealers

Performing alleged misuse investigations

Emergency response to pesticide incidents

Administering pesticide license exams

Conducting marketplace inspections on misbranded products

Pesticide formulation sampling

Conducting outreach to the regulated public

Inspecting pesticide application equipment

Qualification

Pesticide use experienceBachelor's degree in biologyWritten report compositionVerbal communication skillsMicrosoft Office

Required

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, entomology, pest management, horticulture, plant pathology or a closely related biological science from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience in pesticide use in agricultural production, landscaping, or other areas

Ability to convey and/or interpret any policies, laws, and/or regulations

Must be able to meet and address the public utilizing excellent verbal and presentation skills

Must be able to compose free-style written reports in a clear and concise manner

Basic experience with Microsoft Office

Must possess and maintain a valid NC Driver's License

Must pass an employment physical to confirm the ability to wear a respirator within 1 year from the hire date
