The consultant will design, configure, and support S/4HANA–Vertex tax integration for global indirect tax compliance, combining functional tax process knowledge with technical integration skills.

Responsibilities
Configure S/4HANA tax procedures and integrate them with Vertex Accelerator & SIC
Enable accurate indirect tax determination (Sales/Use Tax, VAT, GST) across Order-to-Cash (SD), Procure-to-Pay (MM/FI), and Finance (FI/CO)
Map tax codes, jurisdictions, product categories, and exemptions between S/4HANA and Vertex
Utilize Vertex Accelerator to streamline deployment and performance
Support business teams in translating tax and compliance requirements into system solutions
Provide solutions to harmonize tax calculation in multiple systems like POS, ECOM with SAP
Implement and maintain Vertex O series, SAP SIC, and Vertex Accelerator on S/4HANA
Support Vertex O Series / Vertex Cloud connectors with S/4HANA
Troubleshoot integration issues using RFCs, BAPIs, APIs, and middleware (CPI/PO)
Perform ABAP debugging and collaborate with development teams for enhancements
Manage Vertex, Accelerator upgrades, Vertex content updates, and SIC releases
Prepare functional/technical design docs, test scripts, and integration test cases
Requires extreme agility to resolve issues before the business and customers see a significant impact
Act as the bridge between Tax, Finance, and IT during S/4HANA–Vertex projects
Provide end-user training and production support during tax periods
Ensure compliance, scalability, and high availability of the Vertex–S/4HANA integration
Qualification
Required
10+ years SAP experience, with at least 6+ years in S/4HANA Vertex integration
Deep knowledge of the configuration of advanced Vertex settings, including pre- and post-assist rules
Hands-on expertise in Vertex Accelerator, SAP SIC, and S/4HANA
Strong knowledge of S/4HANA FI/CO, SD, and MM tax configurations
Deep understanding and knowledge of SD and MM Pricing and Account Determination Settings
Experience with Vertex O Series / Cloud integration with S/4HANA
Proficiency in ABAP debugging, CPI/PO integration, and interface troubleshooting
Strong understanding of indirect tax compliance (Sales/Use Tax, VAT, GST)
Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills
Preferred
End-to-end implementation experience of Vertex Accelerator + SIC on S/4HANA
Global rollout experience (U.S., EU, APAC)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Computer Science, or Information Systems
SAP S/4HANA FI/CO or SD certification
Vertex O series Certification
