Responsibilities
Oversee and direct site crews performing earthwork, utility installation, drainage, paving, and general site construction
Ensure all activities follow plans, approvals, and project specifications
Perform daily walkthroughs to identify progress, issues, and safety hazards
Verify work quality and ensure tasks are completed correctly the first time
Provide direction to laborers, equipment operators, and subcontractors
Maintain strong communication with the office-based Project Manager
Ensure crews understand daily priorities and sequencing
Motivate, coach, and hold teams accountable for performance and professionalism
Quickly resolve onsite issues, delays, or conflicts
Proactively identify risks before they become problems
Maintain smooth workflow by anticipating material, equipment, and manpower needs
Adjust day-to-day operations based on weather, inspections, and site conditions
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company protocols
Maintain relationships with inspectors, utility teams, and municipal personnel
Provide daily reports or updates to PM on progress, setbacks, and needs
Ensure site cleanliness, organization, and readiness for next-phase work
Qualification
Required
3–10+ years in site construction, land development, civil construction, or general site supervision
Foreman, Site Supervisor, Assistant Superintendent, or Lead Operator experience
Strong understanding of underground utilities, drainage, grading, earthwork, and site infrastructure
Experience working on residential subdivisions or multi-unit developments a major plus
Excellent communication with crews & management
Ability to read basic site plans
Solid problem-solving skills — calm under pressure
Strong leadership presence in the field
Organized, reliable, and proactive with daily tasks
Able to work independently with limited supervision
Hands-on leader; not afraid to jump in when needed
Highly dependable — shows up early, stays until it's done right
Strong work ethic and urgency
Practical, grounded, resourceful personality
Commitment to safety and quality
Preferred
Resides in South Jersey or willing to commute daily (major convenience due to job site locations)
Experience with national residential developers, land development firms, or civil contractors
