Responsibilities
Work closely with Schwab Trading development teams to improve scalability and service reliability
Real-Time troubleshooting of trading workflows in production environment to perform incident and problem management
Provide 24•7 Production Support for Trading Infrastructure ecosystem as a part of a global team and ensure low MTTD (time to detect) and MTTR (time to restore). [we have an offshore team - 7:30 CT to 10am CT | onshore is the next escalation level | On call during off hours and weekends ~ once a month ~ OT eligible]
Develop, modernize and improve monitoring for Trading infrastructure
Be part of Code Release review and support Trading software releases regularly
Develop, manage and run CI/CD pipelines to reduce friction for software delivery to production
Develop, automate and orchestrate tools, frameworks and instrumentation to reduce toil and increase reliability for applications
Qualification
Required
3-5 years of experience or relevant knowledge in Linux system administration
Ability to code in one or more of programming languages such as .NET, PowerShell, java, python, bash
2-3 years of experience or relevant knowledge of one or more of SQL, NoSQL databases
1-2 years of experience or relevant knowledge of IP networking including TCP, UDP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, IP routing, etc
Knowledge of distributed systems and messaging architectures
knowledge of Open-source tools Kafka, Splunk, Influx, Grafana, etc
Preferred
Strong customer orientation with an affinity to proactively own, communicate, and follow-through projects and issues
Extreme sense of ownership to resolve problems in a distributed environment
Gritty resolve to dig deeper into technical issues in a complex trading eco-system
Well organized, with the ability to express precise and clear in written and verbal forms
Strong team orientation and initiative to collaborate with a diverse team
