Williams County is seeking a Staff Engineer to perform professional engineering duties related to transportation system planning and maintenance. The role involves conducting engineering studies, developing design concepts, and managing transportation-related projects under limited supervision.

Responsibilities

Conducts engineering studies related to County transportation system planning, design, and maintenance

Develops overall design concepts and prepares details for transportation infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and drainage systems

Utilizes AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop plan and profile sheets, estimates, and detailed design documents

Prepares design specifications for transportation-related projects

Performs engineering calculations to determine quantities, areas, and project costs

Conducts or oversees construction inspections, materials testing, construction staking, and surveying to ensure compliance with project specifications and contract requirements

Maintains accurate records and documentation, including field notes, daily logs, and project reports, in accordance with County, State, and Federal requirements

Manages a comprehensive inventory of County road surfacing types, bridges, and culverts; ensures timely reporting to the North Dakota Department of Transportation and other agencies

Maintains project files and provides project management for road and bridge improvement projects directly or through coordination with consulting engineers

Performs traffic analysis by deploying and retrieving radar traffic counters; interprets data to inform roadway planning and maintenance decisions

Assists with special assessment projects in accordance with the North Dakota Century Code

Reviews and coordinates engineering plans and plat submissions through the County Planning and Zoning Board and the Building Department

Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code
