Director of Tech Strategy & Governance

Interactive Resources - iR is seeking a Director of Tech Strategy & Governance to act as a strategic partner to senior technology leadership. This role focuses on governance, financial management, and execution across a large-scale digital and technology investment portfolio, ensuring clarity and accountability across initiatives.

Responsibilities

Serve as the central governing function for enterprise technology investment programs, including intake, prioritization, and approval processes
Establish and maintain standardized processes, documentation, and reporting across all initiatives
Ensure every initiative has a clear business case, defined KPIs, executive sponsorship, and documented outcomes
Provide strategic recommendations on investment trade-offs and resource allocation to maximize business value
Lead the annual technology budget planning cycle in close partnership with Finance
Consolidate capital funding requests and track actuals versus plan
Manage variance analysis, forecasting, and forward-looking scenario planning across run, grow, and transform investments
Provide disciplined budget tracking and financial transparency across the portfolio
Develop executive-level scorecards and dashboards covering financials, risks, KPIs, and program performance
Prepare materials for senior leadership, executive committees, and board-level discussions
Drive alignment and accountability across senior business and technology stakeholders
Act as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, offering insights that inform strategic direction and decision-making
Maintain a single source of truth for major initiatives, including charters, timelines, dependencies, and status
Proactively identify risks, escalate issues, and facilitate resolution across cross-functional teams
Support large, complex programs with execution discipline and standardized delivery practices
Coordinate quarterly business reviews and performance scorecards for key vendors
Assess vendor performance against strategic objectives, financial guardrails, and delivery expectations
Identify opportunities to optimize partnerships and improve outcomes
Orchestrate leadership meetings and offsites, including agenda development, materials preparation, decision capture, and follow-ups
Facilitate workshops to align priorities, resolve cross-functional challenges, and drive consensus

Required

Proven experience executing and supporting large, complex enterprise programs
Strong understanding of strategic planning initiatives, portfolio management, and investment governance
Demonstrated ability to partner with senior stakeholders and executive leadership, influencing outcomes in a matrixed environment
Background in strategy, consulting, program leadership, or business operations — engineering or hands-on technical background not required
Comfort operating as a trusted advisor at the executive level, with strong judgment and discretion
6+ years of relevant experience in technology strategy, portfolio management, consulting, or business operations
Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, actionable recommendations
Advanced financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, and investment analysis
Exceptional executive communication skills with experience producing senior-leadership and board-ready deliverables
Proven ability to influence and drive alignment across diverse stakeholders
Strong program leadership and change management capabilities
Experience managing third-party vendors, contracts, and enterprise tooling ecosystems

Preferred

bachelor's degree preferred
Prior experience in a management consulting environment, ideally supporting technology-enabled transformations
