Backend Engineer
Channel3 is building a comprehensive database of every product on the internet, leveraging AI to manage messy product data. The Backend Engineer will be responsible for developing systems to understand and manage product data, build efficient search capabilities, and ensure reliability and cost-effectiveness in data handling.

Responsibilities
Write code to understand 1B products. We stitch together the latest language, embedding, image, and segmentation models to build a true understanding of each and every product
Build world-class search. Developers should be able to find 'outdoor grills from Weber, less than $1000, with 4 burners,' 'running sneakers under 300g, size 12,' or 'this couch [image] but in green' — in under 2 seconds
Engineer for reliability and cost. Create evals to measure drift, and guardrails to prevent regressions and hallucinations. Be clever and scrappy to reduce database cost and token usage everywhere we can
Qualification
Required
Authorization to work in the US
Experience with coding and building systems that understand large datasets
Familiarity with computer vision systems
Ability to work with multimodal models for product understanding
Experience in building search functionalities with structured data
Knowledge of engineering for reliability and cost efficiency
Experience with managing and reducing database costs and token usage
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Experience with AI and machine learning technologies
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure
Background in computer science or related field
Experience with product data management and deduplication techniques
Strong problem-solving skills and creativity in engineering solutions
