Project Finance Associate

NextGrid is a renewable energy company focused on developing, financing, and operating commercial and industrial solar and storage projects. The Project Finance Associate will support the execution of project finance transactions and contribute to company-wide financial planning and analysis.

Responsibilities

Support the structuring, execution, and closing of project finance transactions, including debt, tax equity, and hybrid structures
Own core financial analyses and transaction deliverables, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with agreed financing terms
Coordinate transaction timelines, diligence materials, and information flow across internal teams and external counterparties
Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for lenders, tax equity investors, and financial advisors during diligence and transaction execution
Coordinate third-party diligence efforts, including independent engineer, insurance, and market reports
Prepare investment memoranda, internal approval materials, and transaction summaries for internal stakeholders and external partners
Partner with development, legal, engineering, and operations teams to assess the financial implications of Power Purchase Agreements, leases, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contracts, and other commercial arrangements
Provide analytical support on financing strategy, capital structuring, and portfolio-level and corporate-level capital planning
Evaluate the impact of market conditions, incentive programs, and regulatory developments on project economics and financing structures
Support the preparation of the company’s annual budget and periodic reforecasts, incorporating inputs across development, construction, operations, and corporate functions
Develop and maintain integrated company-wide financial models, including income statement, cash flow, and liquidity forecasts
Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis and support management reporting
Support long-range financial planning, capital allocation analysis, and scenario modeling to inform strategic decision-making
Ensure consistency between project-level financial models and consolidated corporate forecasts
Develop, maintain, and update detailed project-level and corporate-level financial models
Perform sensitivity analyses, downside cases, and scenario modeling across individual projects and the consolidated company
Review and validate model outputs to support senior-level decision-making and external negotiations
Support post-close activities, including loan draw requests, covenant compliance tracking, and investor reporting requirements
Assist in monitoring portfolio performance and corporate liquidity, identifying financial risks and optimization opportunities over the life of the assets

Required

Bachelor's degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field
5 to 7 years of progressive experience in project finance, renewable energy finance, corporate finance, or financial planning and analysis
Demonstrated experience owning complex financial models, financing workstreams, and company-wide budgeting and forecasting processes
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong project finance and corporate financial modeling capabilities
Solid understanding of renewable energy financing structures and incentive frameworks applicable to solar and storage projects
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across transactions and enterprise financial planning cycles
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support senior leadership and external stakeholders

Preferred

Experience in renewable energy finance
Familiarity with Power Purchase Agreements and related contracts
