Assistant Trust Officer

Woodlands Bank is seeking an Assistant Trust Officer to provide trust, estate, and asset management services to customers. The role involves developing new trust business, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring compliance with trust regulations and bank policies.

Responsibilities

Responsible for providing trust, estate, and asset management services to customers of the Trust & Investment Division consistent with the needs of the customer and established sales objectives; achieving customer service goals as part of the Bank's business objectives; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the trust function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports
Provides trust, estate, and asset management services to customers of the Trust & Investment Division consistent with the needs of the customer and established sales objectives of which the following are illustrative:
Develops new trust business
Provides bank customers with complete trust services; these services include the areas of estates, personal trusts, guardianships, corporate trusts, etc
Follows up on trust referrals by scheduling and coordinating appointments
Meets with prospective clients and/or attorneys for estate planning and other trust services
Formulates account and estate administration
Participates in Court hearings as required
Responds to verbal inquiries from customers and employees regarding trust issues and/or questions
Attends PBA, AIB and in-house seminars
Maintains cooperative and efficient working relationships with attorneys, accountants, insurance agents and other professions, trust clients and beneficiaries
Analyzes available cash and current investments for investment decisions
Handles matters relating to probating wills; reviews and executes legal documents
Makes decisions on matters affecting account administration process
Compiles information to determine value of accounts
Reviews records, bills and other matters requiring action; directs preparation of posting entries
Maintains timetable records
Closes accounts, i.e., reviews and analyzes transcripts and accountings, liquidates investments, initiates check distribution, etc
Decides on appropriate investments; initiates purchase and liquidations; reviews computer print-outs and ticker file for maturing investments, account closings and other related items
Maintains an active awareness of changes in legal requirements which may affect trust and estate accounts
Prepares and maintains status records and reports on estates, business development, and financial planning activities; prepares various reports, statements, and forms as required
Jointly establishes annual quantitative customer service and sales objectives with assigned supervisor; this activity to be integrated with the Bank's business objectives
Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place
Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc
Complies with established operating policies and procedures in order to maintain adequate controls and to support the bank's adherence to outside regulatory requirements
Communicates with management and staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities
Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy
Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports

Required

A high school diploma or equivalent required
A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a related position normally required
Proficient reading, writing, grammar and mathematics skills
Proficient interpersonal relations, communicative and sales skills
A thorough knowledge of current trust regulations
Proficient PC skills
Visual and auditory skills
Valid driver's license

Preferred

B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field of study preferred
