Director of Donor Communications

Talent Market is managing the search for the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE), which is dedicated to making economic principles accessible to a general audience. The Director of Donor Communications will lead the organization's donor communications efforts, designing strategies to engage donors and support fundraising goals while collaborating with various teams to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

Responsibilities

Develops and executes a comprehensive communications strategy for the Development department
Drafts fundraising copy and delegates writing assignments to other FEE writers
Manages all aspects of development communications projects, from conception to execution—including idea generation, engaging key contributors, managing workflows, guiding graphic designers, and liaising with print vendors
Creates compelling, donor-centric content across various channels (print, digital, email, etc.) that highlights FEE’s organizational impact, beneficiary testimonials, and programming initiatives
Oversees direct mail and email vendors
Reviews, edits, and provides feedback on grant proposals, reports, and other materials prepared for mid-level and major donors
Develops pitch decks and other supporting materials for donor meetings and events for the President and Development staff
Maintains strong relationships with program staff to ensure accurate and up-to-date information on programmatic activities and impact
Serves as a leader on the Development team and within the organization to promote an environment of growth and creativity
Development communications projects may include but not be limited to the following:
Annual prospectus/strategy document
Annual report
Impact reports
Email newsletters
Direct mail pieces and appeal letters
Pitch decks
Other promotional materials for campaigns, planned giving, donor clubs, events, etc

Required

Personal alignment with FEE's mission
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling messages for various audiences
Strong understanding of fundraising strategies, donor relations, and stewardship
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership, development staff, and external stakeholders
Passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to advancing its goals through strategic communications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field

Preferred

7+ years of writing and editing experience (candidates with 3-7 years will also be considered if they bring strong development experience in the liberty movement)
3+ years in nonprofit development communications preferred
3+ years of experience in the liberty movement strongly preferred
Master's preferred
