Chassis Technician

Cummins Inc. is seeking a talented Chassis Technician to join their team specializing in engine repairs. This role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding engine products and customer equipment in a service shop, as well as performing preventative maintenance and adhering to safety policies.

Responsibilities

Complete troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop
Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines, including utilizing computers/software in the process of diagnostic work
Apply documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools
Completing required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens
Ongoing training and additional certifications on new and existing Cummins products
Adhere to all our relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor

Required

State of Michigan mechanic license is required within the first 30 days of employment
Must have or be able to obtain MI. State Mechanic License within first 30 days of employment
Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
A current valid license is required for this role
This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements
This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing

Preferred

Prior experience is preferred for engine and/or chassis repairs
Significant relevant technician experience; qualified to perform work on most or all of products in-scope for a technician at this location; frequently engaged in complex diagnosis and repair; requires minimal to no supervision; ability to effectively train and guide less experienced technicians of varying skillsets
Apprentice Trained Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
The ability to obtain a CDL may be required
Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with chassis products
