Responsibilities
Ensuring safe excavation practices are observed around critical WE Energies gas facilities
Thoroughly communicating with excavators regarding the critical nature of facilities they are working around
Protecting the integrity of gas facilities throughout the excavation process
Monitoring excavation around facilities deemed critical by customers
Locating planning requests for WE Energies facilities only
Using a company vehicle and state-of-the-art ticket management systems to document and close all tickets
Working outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Using a company provided laptop and phone to document and close all tickets
Qualification
Required
Minimum 1 year utility-based experience, locating preferred
Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus
Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected
Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position)
Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs
Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities
Computer proficiency
Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints; possess basic math skill to calculate distances
Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners
Preferred
Customer service experience is a plus
Previous outdoor experience is a plus
