Responsibilities
Perform structural and line design analysis using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Caisson
Serve as a subject-matter expert for modeling and analysis across transmission and distribution systems
Review and design pole foundations for new and existing installations
Maintain and update engineering design specifications, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards
Support development of new engineering projects based on data collection, research, and analysis
Present new ideas to improve engineering processes and business efficiency
Analyze data for strategic decision-making in new and ongoing engineering initiatives
Support construction teams by resolving design-related issues
Conduct field inspections as needed
Assist with emergency restoration efforts related to wildfires, storms, or other system incidents
Oversee QA/QC engineering processes to ensure quality, safety, and reliability
Ensure compliance with: California GO95, NESC, ASCE codes and engineering standards
Provide technical leadership and guidance to SCE's transmission engineering practice
Mentor less experienced engineers in design methods, tools, and best practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
California Civil PE License (required)
7+ years of technical experience in transmission and/or distribution line engineering
Strong experience with California utility engineering standards including GO95, NESC, and ASCE
Proficiency with: PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, AutoCAD
Preferred
Experience with: PLS-Caisson, SPIDAcalc
Experience supporting utility emergency response (storms, wildfire restoration)
Experience collaborating with cross-functional utility teams
