Senior Accountant

Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage and oversee their financial activities. This role involves ensuring the accuracy of financial records, overseeing disbursement processes, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, including review, posting and determination of invoices to be paid. Reviews corresponding accounting impact and oversees entry into accounting system
Partners with Controller and oversees staff accounting in recording product sales revenue, collections, vendor payment and reconciliations
Oversees donor receipts into general ledger from fund development for coding accuracy and post
Supports monthly close for all council systems, translating business activity into the general ledger in accordance with GAAP
Perform regular bank and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy
Lead the preparation for annual audits and liaise with external auditors
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP
Serve as primary support for all regular accounting activity, in partnership with Controller
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial compliance reports
Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
Coordinate preparation of support for governmental and grants compliance and reporting in partnership with fund development and Grants Finance Manager
Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making
Process payroll to ensure timely and accurate payment to employees
Ensure proper recording of payroll/compensation activities into the general ledger
Coordinate with human resources to ensure payroll functions accurately
Cross trains with other accounting staff to provide backup, as needed
Performs other duties, as assigned

Required

Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks), Microsoft Excel, and financial analysis tools
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by this council, and others with whom her/his job puts her/him in contact
