Responsibilities

Demonstrates competency in specific technology areas or applications, using expertise to develop value-creating solutions for project teams and stakeholders

Manages more than one project assigned by supervision, has the responsibility for the experimental aspects of the project, and provides high quality data; recognizes and finds ways to improve the quality of the experimental/work of the team, delivering quality results and solutions to complex problems; plans, schedules and determines resources to drive results to meet objectives; seeks and implements new ideas to solve problems and make innovative contributions

Proactive application of the scientific method or engineering design process and statistics in chosen discipline. Starts to actively coach others in aspects of the methodology

Applies and leverages knowledge of innovation materials, substances, process of technical literature. Expanded level of skills in a wide variety of laboratory techniques, instruments, etc. to solve problems

Recognizes and defines boundaries and impact within a technology area and market

Good understanding of work group and business strategy

Proposes MT and Process R&D projects aligned with business goals

Creates thorough knowledge and understanding of asset, product and process requirements, competitive environment in context of related business needs

Translates technology benefits into new business opportunities

Understands that IP is developed and protected through the effective use of confidentiality agreements, patent disclosures, and proper external communication

Participates in the development of intellectual property plans as part of a project

Documents results of own experimental work, draws conclusions on the findings and proposes next steps

Lead author on Research Reports, Invention Disclosures and/or Patent applications
