Engineer Senior - Mission Operations Systems Engineer

BAE Systems, Inc. is an international defense, aerospace and security company, and they are seeking a self-motivated systems engineer to join their Systems Operations and Sustainment team. The role involves supporting the launch and commissioning of satellites, developing mission operations products, and collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure successful satellite operations.

Responsibilities

Develop, update, and test mission operations products such as command execution scripts, alarm limits, constraints, operating procedures, training material, or tools
Contribute to the planning and successful execution of rehearsals, test events, launch, commissioning, and early operations
Collaborate with and coordinate subject matter experts. This may include tasks such as technical review meetings, staffing coordination, account and logistics support, and team briefings and training
Support the verification and validation of mission operations products through unit, system, and enterprise tests
Perform telemetry trending, performance analysis, calibration, and maintenance activities for the satellite
Participate in on-orbit operations, assess satellite and ground system state of health, and assist with anomaly support
Support integration and test of new capabilities and/or product releases for the satellite or ground system
Prepare and present technical content to peers, management, and customers
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. Schedule may include periodic support for night, weekend, or on-call shifts
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment
Perform other duties as necessary

Required

BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience
Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education
A current, active Top Secret security clearance is required
Experience in mission operations, including one or more of the following areas: Operations readiness activities, rehearsals, and launch support activities; On-console satellite operations; Spacecraft commissioning; Spacecraft, payload, or subsystem design; Mission management, command and control; Operations product development such as command execution scripts, alarm limits, mission system constraints, operating procedures, training material, or tools
Familiarity with systems engineering processes, such as requirements management, change and configuration management, and verification and validation
Excellent organization, communication, and teaming skills

Preferred

A current, active TS/SCI clearance
Experience with Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Experience in related disciplines such as software engineering, hardware engineering, or integration and test
Experience using simulators, test benches, or flatsats
Experience with ground systems
Knowledge of Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence)
Knowledge of requirements management tools such as Jama or DOORS
