Customer Service Usher

Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking a Customer Service Usher for its Metro-North Railroad department. The role involves providing assistance to customers, managing track assignments, and ensuring proper operations at Grand Central Terminal.

Transportation/Trucking/Railroad

Responsibilities

Provide information and assistance to Metro-North customers
Provide wheelchair and baggage assistance as directed
Direct customers to proper track assignments during normal and track change situations in compliance with gate policy of Stationmaster
Monitor and control Station Master's Office (SMO) Waiting Area
Ensure that gate displays are correct and report exceptions to supervisors

Required

Must possess a High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or have completed the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC)
Verbal communication skills. Ability to lift and carry heavy luggage and baggage
Ability to read timetables, turnaround sheets, and safety rules
Knowledge of all trains arriving and departing Grand Central Terminal
Must wear prescribed uniform and maintain an accurate watch
