Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data ingestion pipelines (ETL) to extract, transform, and load trading and market data into the TradingHub platform from various source systems
Configure and integrate the TradingHub platform, ensuring seamless data flow and optimal performance of surveillance models and custom controls
Apply a deep understanding of financial markets, including equities, fixed income, FX, and derivatives, to ensure accurate data mapping and transformation
Implement a strategic data quality framework to validate and monitor the completeness and accuracy of trading data, addressing any issues to prevent false positives in surveillance alerts
Collaborate with technology and business stakeholders to enhance data pipelines and system performance, introducing automation and advanced analytics where appropriate
Investigate and resolve complex data-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and provide technical support for production systems
Work cross-functionally with compliance, trading, risk, and other technology teams to continuously improve data flows and overall surveillance effectiveness
Create and maintain technical documentation related to data mapping, data lineage, and ETL processes
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in a data engineering or ETL development role, preferably within a financial services or capital markets environment
Strong understanding of financial instruments, market data concepts, and capital markets trading practices
Hands-on experience with designing, implementing, and optimizing complex ETL processes for large-scale data sets
Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages like Python or C# is essential
Experience with databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) is highly desirable
Familiarity with trade surveillance systems and platforms like TradingHub, Actimize, or SMARTS is a significant advantage
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively troubleshoot and resolve complex data and production issues
Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts and findings to a range of stakeholders
An understanding of financial regulations such as market abuse and other regulatory reporting requirements
