Responsibilities

Advanced skills in maintaining operating systems and applications within supported key domains through patching, upgrades, and break/fix remediation with/without vendor support are required
Well defined comprehension regarding PERA systems, projects, project specifications, and business process logic
Ability to field Level 2 calls from other staff generally recognizing solutions, and on occasion, research, resolve, or work with vendors to document root cause solutions of new issues
Patch and maintain systems, begin planning and documenting application or system upgrades under supervision or with review of Senior staff
Seek out, obtain, and plan mitigations for security vulnerabilities, learn and manage security vulnerability tools within supported technology domain and resolve or escalate security issues
Utilize and learn backup solutions deployed, participate in and support disaster recovery testing under supervision of Senior staff using existing documentation and verify it is written, clear, and tested for system recovery and operation
Look for opportunity to improve Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) in all supported systems, assist in implementing and supporting various encryption solutions, learn and evaluate assigned tools that help Infrastructure staff accomplish the mission of CIA
Assist Senior staff in well scoped projects, system integrations, and application upgrades and begin to develop and document plans to accomplish those initiatives, understand and use PERA’s ITSM processes with review from Senior staff
Initiate and participate in vendor discussions to resolve third party product issues, either independently or with guidance from Senior staff; begin to evaluate licensing and approve product renewal quotes for existing tooling
Perform other duties as assigned

Degree in technical (STEM) field or one year experience in technical role preferred
Experience working with and developing expertise in key technology/platform within assigned technology domain, preferred
Periodically attends technical training relating to core domain skills development as well as current system support duties
Exposure to infrastructure servers and desktops, and issue identification and improvement of computing environments
Familiarity with administration tasks including researching event log warnings and errors, resource monitoring, and ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
Experience in systems administration and automated patching and vulnerability management of software, and hardware firmware maintenance in support of developing and testing of information technology systems, including application upgrades and support, preferred
Proficiency in managing applicable network devices to include routers, switches, gateways, physical access systems, telecommunication point of presence and demarcation points, and wireless access points preferred
Knowledge of computer networking protocols and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) including, but not limited to TCP, IP, UDP, HTTP, DHCP, DNS, and Wi-Fi protocols with skills in communication security such as certificate management using GKLM preferred
Experience monitoring, resolving, or escalating infrastructure events
