Director Compensation

LHH is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Compensation to lead the design, implementation, and administration of their compensation programs. This role will ensure competitive and equitable pay practices while partnering with senior leadership and HR to build effective compensation strategies.

Human Resources

Responsibilities

Develop and execute the organization’s compensation strategy, including base pay, incentive plans, job architecture, and market benchmarking
Oversee compensation program governance, compliance, and compensation-related policies
Lead compensation cycles including annual merit, promotions, salary structure adjustments, and bonus planning
Evaluate and update job families, job levels, and job descriptions in partnership with HR and department leaders
Conduct market analyses and maintain competitive salary structures using industry data and analytics
Advise executives and HR business partners on compensation decisions, offers, internal equity, and compliance considerations
Design and manage short-term and long-term incentive programs
Lead compensation-related systems, tools, and processes to ensure accurate and efficient administration
Prepare compensation analytics, dashboards, and recommendations for leadership and the board
Partner with Talent Acquisition to support competitive and equitable offer packages
Manage vendor relationships and compensation survey participation
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including FLSA, pay equity laws, and reporting requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field (Master's preferred)
7–10+ years of progressive compensation experience; 3+ years in a compensation leadership role
Strong knowledge of salary structures, job evaluation, benchmarking methodologies, and incentive design
Expertise in compensation laws, compliance, and best practices
Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Excel; experience with HRIS and compensation systems preferred
Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence at all levels
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and strategic mindset

Preferred

Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field
Experience with HRIS and compensation systems
