Engineer 6-DCL - Urban System Program
The State of Louisiana is seeking an Engineer 6 for the Urban System Program. The Project Manager will be responsible for project delivery from inception through construction, managing consultant engineering contracts, and ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities
Consults with the Planning Division to develop delivery schedules for the projects in the program, in coordination with the parish, city or Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). As the Project Manager, is responsible for project delivery from inception through construction
Manages consultant engineering contracts (develops project scopes, negotiates man-hours and fees, establishes contract time requirements, establishes design criteria, monitors progress and quality of work, approves final acceptance of plans, and approves invoices for payment)
Reviews plans prepared by consultants for conformity with AASHTO guidelines and DOTO policies, procedures, and standards
Coordinates project development through contact with entities, principals and senior engineers of consulting firms as well as their design staff
Insures that the DOTD quality control process has been followed. Directs consultants to correct any plan errors and/or omissions discovered during reviews. Prepares formal consultant evaluations/ratings
Coordinates project development with the Federal Highway Administration when necessary
Qualification
Required
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering
Two years of licensed engineering experience performing in-house design, project development and/or project management of roadway construction projects
Six years of professional engineering experience, four years of which must include performing in-house design, project development and/or project management of roadway construction projects
Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience
Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineer's license will be accepted as professional level engineering experience
Preferred
A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience
A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience
Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience
Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana
